Chenab Bridge : Highest Bridge of the World on River Chenab to be ready by 2021

 

The world's highest railway bridge over river Chenab in Jammu and Kashmir is going to be ready by 2021 and can connect the valley with the remainder of India by train. This bridge is being constructed in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), India.

The 1.3 km long bridge is being built at a height of 360m. Once completed, it'll be the tallest rail bridge within the world. The bridge, which features a central span of 467 metres, is being built at a height of 360 metres from the bed level. The height of Qutab Minar in Delhi is 72 metres which of the Eiffel Tower in Paris is 324 metres. This is the tallest railway bridge within the world and therefore the maximum designed wind speed for the bridge is 266 kmph.

Travelling in and around the mountainous terrain of Jammu and Kashmir has been an excellent difficulty for locals. An urgent got to provide better transportation facilities was recognised by the govt of India. The project includes the construction of several bridges and tunnels along the route, of which Chenab Bridge is one. it's will span across the deep Chenab river and supply access to the Kashmir valley from Udhampur.

The design of the most arch requires consideration of a variety of additional parameters, like fatigue, global stability, second-order effects, composite action, etc. It also requires that such a bridge is meant to realize a uniform level of reliability for all load cases, which the planning standards match the development standards. That has been considered within the current design work also.
